Prince: Controversy

Event Navigation

Controversy, Prince’s fourth studio album, according to Keith Harris of Blender Magazine, is “Prince’s first attempt to get you to love him for his mind, not just his body”, as it “refines the propulsive funk of previous albums and adds treatises on religion, work, nuclear war, and Abscam.” This critically acclaimed album combined Prince’s unfettered sexually charged lyrics and his newly shared political activist views that resulted in a musical masterpiece that the Rock & Roll community was not prepared for. On June 8th, NLE Music Director, Khari Cabral Simmons and the all-star band will continue this series by taking a complete exploration of this amazing album, plus several other rare gems and fan favorites.
